Cdl hos and non cdl vehicals

I just did this in class... if you stay in state lines, and within a 100 air-mile radius, you are not required to have a logbook IF a) you report to the same place at the beginning and end of the day, and b) your company keeps your time records for the last 6 months. You still have to follow the 11, 14, and the 70-8 or 60-7 rules though. if after the 70 hrs have been hit, you cant drive a cdl veh but you can still work.

my mistake, just read thru 395.1 again, and for passenger vehicles its 12 hr on duty, in which you can drive 10, then you have to have 8 off.

 

Most of your questions are answered here . Note that for CMV's requiring a CDL it's a 100 mile radius and time records must be kept . FMCSA restricts you to 12 hours but if you stay intrastate in FL you are exempt from FMCSA rules .
Now that raises a question for killerq123 . Does your limo company operate outside Florida ? I'm assuming they do if DOT told them they needed log books . They must have DOT authority .

 

I know all about that not moving freight but moving passengers . I once worked for a company that had their own points system that was more strict than the state's was . They disqualified me from driving CDL vehicles over the road . Instead they had me driving a 15 passenger van transporting crews 200-300 miles to jobs .
You can find a driving job somewhere . Ask around . I know a company in Orlando that let a driver keep driving after he failed a drug test - until news got to the corporate office in MA . Even then they let the driver take a counseling program then start driving again .

The Feds say if you test clean and participate in an approved program you can work . The option is up to the employer .

 

Your company would be better off staying intrastate and canceling their Federal authority . More trouble than it's worth here .
