Yes plus I have to move a few files over first.. then the Dock will re-load the bulk of the files.

I started a conversation with you with my E-Mail... if you see that, then E-Mail me.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Do any Rand McNally GPS products offer a feature whereby location points can be saved to a file that has few or no size limits. Ideally I'd like to be able to set the resolution (time interval save) so that a .gpx file (or other format) can be retrieved, archived, and then cleared.

I'd like to save points every 10 minutes, moving or stopped. Also, I'd like to download them about once a month, and have the option in the device to clear the history when I'm ready. It can save to non-volatile memory or card, either one.

I know my handheld garmin back at home has this ability but was wondering if any automobile GPS units have this feature. My Garmin Dezl has a "history" feature but is very limited and will flush out after a set number of days (10?) then all is erased and you start new. If you don't retrieve the data in time, it's lost forever.

The only thing I can think of on the TND/Tablet is Trails, but this is an SQLite DB. If you run constantly it will run your TND/Tablet low on memory depending how long of trails you run. It basically was put in for "off" road locations and for RV campgrounds. As far as the ELD recording back on the Portal I don't know, but can find out.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I don't understand how a device can store data to compile IFTA reports for entire quarters, but can't give the user (export option) a related gpx file to be used as the user wishes.

Are you talking about the Fuel/Mileage DB's? If you are once they are exported they are .csv files and can be opened up in a spreadsheet format.

    Thanks,

I assume this csv file would not have anything like what I'm looking for. The file I want will have
    • location coordinates
    • Date/time (GMT or Fixed to a selectable time zone)
    • Speed
    • Heading
Just like a hiker's handheld unit would save points for later download.

Also there should be no limit to the records other than card size and until I can archive the data then clear it.

    Thanks

A Hikers needs are different than the Truck GPS. You would need the above if you are hiking in the wilderness, but for a vehicle you would not.

Why do you require this data?

    Thanks,
    Mark

I want to plot my monthly travels on a USA map, in sequence. Probably use something like Garmin Basecamp software.

All I need is the flat database history (gpx format). What's odd is Garmin goes 90% of the way to providing this feature in their Dezl line, then stops. In Garmin's mind, nobody will ever travel more than 10 days in a vehicle.
