    Anyone running a steep deck?
How consistent is the freight in the Mercer realm?
Is there a problem picking flatbed loads on a step? Knowing the deck length could be an issue that may not be a problem with a skateboard.
Step versatility isn't much value if the freight isn't there.
Each has advantages and disadvantages when comparing a step to flat.

I couldn't get a container in California loaded on that setup. Must be some reason, but they wouldn't explain it. The container was 45 or 48 I think.

53 step gives normally a 43 foot bed container locks for two twenties load levelers and if they don't like it next guy will. most places will load and use this setup if you really want some fun add a set of ten foot slide out ramps!

Interesting stack... A couple of Qs. How much extra weight does load levelers and ramps take from payload? Considering a step weights 2k - 3k more than a skateboard.

Looking at the load in the pic, would loading the smaller bundles under the [beams] work? Securing of course would have to be independent to not bare any load of the larger items. Thinking of keeping the load height and CG as low as possible. I'm thinking there may be times when a shipper would refuse to load out this way.

I've not run step so I would be a newbie with step. I see the versatility a step. Yet...

Explanation would be good information if not for courtesy. I've seen containers overhang skateboards before and not using "Oversized Load" signage. Legal? Dunno... I suppose this may be buried deep within the regulations book!

Every state is different but most allow 4 ft to over hang on a 48'. No od banner required, just a red flag at the extremity. I could see an empty container over hanging but no way would i do that with a loaded one.

I haven't been out there in years, but a buddy of mine says Long Beach won't load a container on a step any more, unless you have a 40ft bottom. No over hangs.
