I woulda thought that the Wytheville yard would be closer to Knoxville than Ellenwood, GA. I haven't actually checked, though, so I could be wrong.

I know what you mean, lately I've been more adventurous when it comes to parking. I used to only ever park at truck stops and rest areas. Now any old back alley behind a store etc is fair game.

I just might be a full fledged trucker one of these days.

What happens in the alley, stays in the alley.

It would be closer to Knoxville, but not to where I'm actually trying to get to. I only mentioned Nashville and Knoxville as they are the closest cities in TN. Unless Murfreesboro is a city in which that would be closest.

You wouldn't be laughing if you saw (or smelled) some of the alleys I've stayed in.

Yeah, Bravo supermarket in Naples FL, I'm looking at you.

I think the sketchiest, skeeziest place I've used for overnight parking is the hole-in-the-wall "truck stop" next to the mom-and-pop 20-truck Great American Transport trucking company, which is in turn next to the Wal-Mart in Hialeah Park, FL.

It shows up on Trucker's Path as a truck stop, but that's a mistake as far as I'm concerned. Still, I did manage to park there one night.

I also like the truck stop that's one exit down from the Hyster-Yale plant in Berea, KY. It has a fuel isle for semis, but the canopy for the fuel isle doesn't have 13'6" of clearance. I was leaving and almost drove under the canopy, but something stopped me and I drove around instead. And looked in my rear view mirror to see that the top of my trailer was above the bottom of the canopy...
