excerpt inside page...
The Federal Motor Carrier Association regulates who a trucking company can or cannot hirer to drive, and the rules during the course of employment. There are only 2 major criminal issues that will prevent, by law, you from becoming a truck driver:
1.Distribution of, possession with intent to distribute, or importation of a controlled substance. (illegal drug)
2.The use of criminal force such as with a gun or knife.
If you have either of these then and want to be a felony truck drivers please don't waste your money on trucking school - it will be impossible to place you with an employer. Now another issue is: felonies, can you drive truck with a felony? Yes. Can you get a driving job out of truck school with a felony? Maybe. Can you get a job in trucking as a truck driver with 2 or more felonies? No.

IF a company goes to Canada, you cannot go. It's set in stone. They probably will not hire you to keep clean for Canada.
There is very little workaround for this situation, most of it is because of insurance reasons. You literally are not insurable at any price. I could suggest working on a farm following a harvester with a hopper truck in a field. But that's not work for year round making a living. You could work picking crops in a farm. But most people do not do well with this.Last edited: Apr 28, 2017
FireLotus and Symmetrical Thank this. -
Where is your location?
The state might pay for cdl school through the WIOA Program. Ask the unemployment office about this.
Carolina Logistics has cdl school and hires felons; they might give you a chance.
Again, where is your location?austinmike and Lepton1 Thank this. -

Millis Transfer hires hires felons and has their own cdl school.
PI&I Motor Express has some type of deal where they hire felons with recent prison release. Don't know the details, but read about it. Their Masury,OH terminal has something with a cdl school or maybe any cdl school that they will hire ex-cons that graduate. This may require you to go through the state of VA for paid cdl training. Ask about it at the unemployment office.
If I find any more information I'll post it.
Also, Carolina Cargo hires felons that graduate from any cdl school. The owner of the company is an ex-con from the federal system and puts lots of guys to work that have a rough past. He fills an important niche in trucking.
You're hirable, it's just a matter of finding the right place.quatto, Cummimgs Trucking LLC, Bob Dobalina and 4 others Thank this. -

It seems to me that prison is perfect training for a truck driver. You're already used to being watched 24/7, you're used to sleeping in your cell, spending 25 to 28 days a month in the truck should be a piece of cake, and when payday comes, well, you're already used to being bent over in the shower. Yep, perfect training for a truck driver lol.
