Loose in the unit. Hes tried using the tablet port and the magnetic port. It's not snug and loses charging and the unit starts flickering because the battery is going dead. Advice?

Is there anyone using the new RM Overdryve 8 Pro that's coming out now. It has GPS, tablet, dashcam, and a SiriusXM reliever all integrated. Sounds interesting if it all functions right.

ok bit the bullet and got a 740 this afternoon, fingers crossed, one of the first issues is the cheap 12v plug that likes to break is back, i'll post some thoughts once i run it more but the unit looks nice, easily connected to my MyFi (which i wont use for map Updates)

Sorry... forgot to get back to you... I would suspect the USB port itself. Have they called RM CS on this yet?

    Thanks,
    Mark

RM has always used the Mini or Micro USB for charging. The 740 has a barrel type charging on the DC Cord, so where do you say the "cheap 12v plug is back" come from?

Maps will have to be downloaded via the Hot Spot.. The 740 will not connect to the Dock.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    So questions about new 740,
From where its picking up traffic update ? Google services? 511? Another website?
Also , does it picking up traffic and weather update automatically? I mean lets say I am getting close to Chicago , I know traffic is a disaster, so i am turning my phone hotshot , will mcnally pick up all info automatically or I need to make a stop and restaurant my route?
And is it picks uo traffic automatically, or ita can only show traffic at beginning of a trip, and if there is back up will be somewhere later on, will it warn me "slow down traffic ahead"?
And under "no subscription cost" you mean it will not ask me to pay 20$ per year , like 730 does right?

The 730 has free traffic. The earlier 730's did charge, but the ones within the last two years do not.

Traffic is Inrix, Weather is MyWeather.com.

If your Hot Spot is on then the 740 will pick up the information as it is broadcasted.

    No means No.

I bought mine back in april 2015, it was asking to connect to dock, P_20170503_221324_vHDR_On.jpg and pay 20$ to enable traffic, no idea it was changes

the GPS end of the plug is fine, its the lighter adapter tip, the screw on cap is subject to disintegration, which can cause a short inside the lighter receptacle.

don't get me Wrong mark, pointing out an issue, in my opinion RM has a good product, the hardware failures are what cause me concern,

Looking at my DC Plug it is more robust than the prior ones.

    Thanks,
    Mark
