If you regularly calibrate them they are.

Some drivers have the initiative to do things. Others don't. Suspension gauges are calibrated with a flathead screw driver. If i was a company driver, i would make sure it was accurate. Takes all of 30 seconds. But ya that's just to much for some folks.

And we've all heard of drivers threatened with firing for working on their equipment.

Me personally I wouldn't have an issue working on things. But others take issue with having to work on the simplest of things

I sort of agree but working in a larger fleet where you change trailers periodically, you're always going to have to wonder how accurate it is.

We all have tractor "scales" and it's on the driver to keep calibrated and trustworthy. Our trailers have a mix of analog pressure gauge or digital. Neither one can be totally relied on when dealing with max weight loads. Especially considering you may have just gotten that particular trailer and not yet privy to it's numbers.

Going to be hard to argue a 900 pound over gross ticket at the chicken house just based on your claim working off of air pressure readings.

Best thing since sliced bread if you are a company driver and you use a TCH or Comdata card to pay for scales...assign the card to the app and it goes thru...I've had 2 companies that prefer us to pay for scales with our fuel card. Last company, If I went in to get a paper ticket and pay at the counter, I had to remember truck, trailer, miles, trip...with the app, my fat butt doesn't even need to leave the seat unless I have to adjust. Hit the app, change trailer number if necessary, hit "accept" and poof, the scale ticket is on my screen and in my email inbox.
