Alternator code, it means the APU control board is seeing less than 12.8 volts being output from the alternator. It could be the alternator or one of the wires, both are very common on these.

I have a new TriPac that started throwing the ENG code. Turns out it was just a loose wiring harness connection to the On / Off switch on the unit. Someone didn't snap it in place when it was installed.

Had the ALT code on the TriPac on an earlier truck and it was those two wires coming from the alternator. Both had come loose. They're located on the bottom of the unit so you have to take the bottom plate off. Easy enough thing to fix though.

Not every alternator code means low or no voltage.

Mine ran for a few minutes and shut down with alternator code. Was charging with 14+ volts.

Turned out a wire was broken at the regulator. Put a new regulator in and is good again.
If there are any trouble with the Bosch alternators, the regulator is the first thing to look after.

Where is the regulator located? I've replaced the alt with a new one from eb electrical. It looks like the old styled bosch alt. I kept getting the alt code still. Replaced fan with a thermoking fan it's the black one that doesn't matter if it's running clockwise or counter still got alt code. Than replaced belt still alt code. Got a second alt still alt code but not as quick. Tested the new alt passed load test. Checked alt while running with multimeter pushing 14.07 when a.c. no kicked in 13.98 when kicked in and slowly decreases to 13.89 or 13.88 than the alt code came uo. Checked batteries they are charging to 13.41 up to 13.5. Still getting alt code. Replaced ground wire with a new one and still getting alt code. I'm running out of ideas. I've got the older model tripac before the evolution it's a 2012. Any help would be appriciated.

Ok so I was looking at the voltage on my inverter it showed 12.9 so got under the apu checked the voltage from alt which was at 13.79 than shut off with alt code.

Seems like your power doesn't make it to the batteries.
If I remember right, the charging wire runs from alternator up to the starter. Check for connections, disconnect, clean and grease them and reconnect.

There is also a 50? AMP fuse up there. Check it
    .
If it still does the same, I would put a jump cable first on the alternator to battery while running. Check for voltage at battery/power inverter.
If it works, I would try from starter to battery.

It could as well be a bad ground. A straight jump cable from battery to APU ground could help.

If any of those jump cable connections solve the problem, again you might have a contact issue.

If you get the voltage close to 14 volt at the battery and it still shuts down, I would check how much info the ECM gets.
You have to remove the cover of the black box under your bunk. You see a lots of white wires connected in there. I think one of them is marked with alt+. It should read the same as your alternator output while running.

The regulator sits in the back of the alternator, attached with two philips (+) style screws. If you pull it off your old alternator, you'll find the cole brushes on the inside.

    Hope it helps, good luck

    Heck, I misread your post.

You get the power to the batteries but not to the inverter an quite likely a wrong info at the ECM.

Again I would clean battery ports and retry.

Where exactly the ECM gets its alt signal, I don't know. I hope you have a chance to track it down in the harness.
