I work for a company that has this as there policy, and I have a family so I need this benefit .. Our dispatchers work Mon- Fri 8-5 ,so it's been one week home Fri ,next week home Sat , one week leave Sun next Mon ... When we call in Monday's nothing is planned so u take what the people who left on Sundays left overs , and its call in at 8 am then back at 10 and so on till they find a load .. I hate to have to ask them to put me on a schedule, because worry will be put on low mileage runs to get me back home ,For example on the leave Sunday back home every Friday.. question is should a person complain or just take whatever the dispatcher gives you .. When I spoke to other drivers at company they insist you have to tell them what you want or they will run you crazy .. I like leaving Monday but hate not having a plan call 8 call 10then I leave at 4 and driving all night dead tired after being up all day , thanks for any feedback , should you shut up and do job or , tell them what you want ..

I'm of the opinion of "shut up and do your job". Too many drivers complain about every little issue that comes up.

But, the company doesn't sound too efficient, because they should have everyone preplanned on friday.

Talk to them. They won't know your situation unless you tell them.

"Home weekends regional" operations... this is one of the disadvantages that come with the advantages. You can't complain about low miles, then want to complain you're not getting home on a good day. Depending on your home location, getting drivers home consistently on Friday or Saturday can be a logistical nightmare and the entire week's planning has to revolve around this aspect.

Too many drivers don't appreciate how difficult this can be for those in the office trying to get a few hundred drivers to a given home location each and every week. Herding cats is easier.

Company I work for is like that. But I figured out the system so I got myself on a schedule where I'm home on Friday leave Sunday. I hated waiting until Monday because it messes up your entire next week. Some weeks I'm home 40+ hrs and some weeks I barely get a 34 just to stay on schedule. I would talk to them and let them know what works better for you. Good drivers are hard to find, so if you are a good one they will work with you to keep you.

In my opinion if it's bad enough to start complaining then it's time to find something else to do. Complaining gets you nowhere. The world is full of complainers. Please don't add to the mess.

Employment in this nation is "at will." The company is not doing you a favor by offering you a job. You are not doing them a favor by driving their truck. If you want a certain deal, ask for it. They are free to tell you yes or no. This job is about people doing the job professionally. Professionals get paid for their efforts. Figure out what you want and negotiate what you will work for. Stand up and demand your rights. And then just do what your wife tells you to do.

There's your answer. Anonymous people on a message board won't know better than your fellow company drivers.

Let them know what your priorities are and see if you can work it out.
