Please, tell him then what the market rates are, so he knows better. At least roughly; 2 $/mile; 2.50, 3? I thought, for a moment that 1.83 a mile is not that bad if he manages 4000 miles a week

DH between loads 10-12% so far. Total rate by the time I get back will be 1.87 on all miles since starting this deal. Average loaded rate is just above 2.00 per mile. Over time I'm sure the rate will go up but right now I have a guy that likes working with me, gets me the rate I need, and the truck isn't sitting.

Those are average rates. Don't be average.
Besides which, has dat ever called you and asked what you got on a load? In all the years i used dat i never got one phone call from them about rates. So how do you thunk they get those numbers if not from tuck owners booking loads? I suspect its supplied by large brokerage firms such as chr and tql. Now they wouldn't have any incentive to report lower rates than actual would they?
