In another provision of the agreement, Celadon agrees to pay Meek $200,000—$20,000 per month for the next 10 months—in exchange for his services as a consultant.

The consulting work will occupy an average of 10 hours per week and will focus on “assisting the company in transitioning Meek’s previous duties and responsibilities to his functional successor or successors,” the agreement says.

Jerry Moyles owned Central. He only merged Central into Swift, but there was no buyout. Nor is there a buyout of Knight. They merged, no debt incurred.

well i wish i had read this thread earlier.

    i couldn't be any happier.

as you see, what you say about buyouts?

i was a victim of celadumb buying out my former employer for the contracts/freight we had. i was NOT guaranteed my job, not even my pay rate (as a company driver) nor my accumulated vacation if i stayed.

does my little heart good to read this.

i feel bad about the drivers, that may now have to seek other employment..but hey, so did i way back when...

    buh-bye celadumb.

I have received my pay the last few weeks as usual, and I did 3400 miles this week; so... maybe....

No ... Jerry sold Central to Swift for cash. Jerry pocketed a nice chunk of change in the deal. Same thing with the Knight purchase of Swift ... it's a stock swap ... but Swift stockholders (Jerry ) are getting a premium on the new company.

You guys didn't think our president was actually going to change things for the better did you? First thing out of his and his people's lips were adding tolls.

Load board is looking like POOP as of right now.

For the past few months always about 500-600 loads every single day to choose from.

As of this past week, I seen it drop to under 300, and a of today it's right at 200.

They already cut off the $100 cash advance for owner ops, which frankly was an insult to begin with.

The BIGGEST change to date is this past week in the Freight Rover app, not allowing us drivers to automatically choose loads with more than 10% deadhead miles from the total loaded miles.

Supposedly, they had drivers deadheading out of the norm to get the much higher paying loads...

Haha, I busted out laughing when the dispatcher told me the reason why I couldn't pick my usual 800 mile, $1500 run.

They are making it much harder to make money with that one simple change to the app. Allows then to cherry pick the best paying loads even worse now, as if they didn't cherry pick the best paying loads already.

For me, it's about time to jump ship. Only a matter of time now.
