I will already have received my CDL when I go to a company. Most of the information here is at least 2 years old, just want to check if it is still current or if anything has changed recently.

I am interested to know what is the current starting rate for recent graduates and how much of that is per diem?

How soon after going solo can you have a rider?

Do they allow pets, if so are there any breed/weight restrictions and what is the deposit?

Last I heard, they're only paying 30 cents per mile. You can call stevens and ask, but the recruiter might dance around the question. Run far away, unless you like $500 paychecks for working 60-70 hours per week.

Look into Prime if you want to go refrigerated, they start at 42cpm if you take a lightweight truck. Since you're so deep into Florida, some companies will not hire you. I believe Roehl Transportation has a program where they will fly you to/from a terminal. Schneider also has a similar program but I don't really recommend them unless you go over to the dedicated or intermodal side.

Knight transportation has a terminal in Lakeland, apparently. You will make decent money as a recent grad on the refrigerated side there.

500.00 a check i wish i go that much when i worked there. i was lucky to take home 300.00 as a company driver and there so called Alliance was negative most of the time as a team truck we should have been making bank and not in the negative week after week. when we went back to company after the Alliance we were 100k in the hole for just over 6 months.

Starting rate for grads is $0.30/mi. And you cannot have a rider in the truck until your first year. As far as the guy who said you can't make any money with them...my settlement from this past week was $1037. I run Northeast Regional Kraft Dedicated with Stevens @ $0.43/mile.

I know you make more than the average Stevens driver but $1037 running NE isn't great.

Ive been here 7 years and never had any problems making money. My checks run anywhere from 2000 to 3300 a week. They treat me great. Its not perfect here but every place has some issues. All in all I love it here.

I don't doubt it if he is trainer and alliance. even a company trainer can make close to that. my trainer a few years ago was making that. So with the higher pay I see no reason why not. I am company and make $800 on a bad week and $1300 on a good week. I avg about a 1k a week. I run Regional so my base is higher than a otr but my miles are less on avg. There is money to be mad, you just need to figure it out. All the big companies are pretty much the same it is figuring out the "system" and working it. I chose to stay at Stevens because I was paid decent and had awesome equipment.

Do you do that solo or do you have to train for that?
