Back when Wal-mart was getting rid of the 02-03, I almost sold my Pete, to buy one of their trucks. They had the little detroit and 10 speed direct. I kept looking at the fuel mileage and all the extra money I could make. With that short wheelbase, getting around would be soo easy!

My wife talked me out of it. She reminded that the only thing I ever owned were Pete's and I knew every bolt, airline and electrical wire on a Pete. Then she said, every truck I've owned since the mid 80's had a Cat in it and I knew Cats inside out.

Then she said the Wal-mart truck only had room for me and couple of my bags.

No room for her, all of her stuff, no room for all the "office" no room for lots and lots of tools. no fridge, no enclosed headache rack. She reminded me, when you open the hood, there's no room to work on the engine. etc. etc. etc.

So I kept the Pete, that I knew so well, and I was reminded that I have a very special wife that knows me so well.

I don't want anyone to think this post is against areo, fuel efficient trucks, it's not, that's where the money is. I'm just trying to say, someone like spyder, who knows this industry and is successful makes these decisions from experience.

Enjoy the truck @spyder7723, it's a good looking ride.

Tell us how much your empty weight has gone up.

According to the title only a few hundred pounds. But we know that's not true. Figure 500ish for the generator. Another couple hundred for the headache rack. And another 2k for all the extra junk i can now carry. I plan on grabbing no more than 45k on my first load just to be safe and hopefully hit a cat scale on the way to load or right after loading.

It will be a change for sure. I had a 2000 Classic with the N14, it was the 72 inch, not the 84 inch sleeper. That N14 was really a great engine, believe it or not the guy I sold it to is still running it at 1.8 million miles with only a set of rod/main bearings. The original heads still on it. Those are tough engines

I could get used to this. Ive been cleaning the sleeper out listening to tunes with the generator keeping it a nice 75 degrees. My wife and two kids have been sitting at the table coloring. 2 adults 2 kids and enough room that we aren't constantly climbing over each other. can't wait till the shower and toilet is installed.
