You'd be surprised how many folks I talk to that have a hard time understanding certain things. Not to bash anyone, just not everyone thinks on the same wavelength. 2+5 and 3+4 both make 7, even if you prefer one over the other. And not everything is forthcoming, I rarely have had a manual to consult. LOL

Are you kidding? Plugs keep the constant din of the engine out of your ears, let alone in a mixer when you have the concrete rolling around in that steel drum.

There is no more safety concious company on the planet than CEMEX. They buy the dispensers that contain like 5000 plugs, looks like a gumball machine, they are free, and everyone is highly encouraged to use them.

Someone post the reg from the FMCSA that says you can't. I've driven through enough scales with plugs and my ear buds in, that if it were a problem, I think I'd been stopped by now.

Why would you want to damage your hearing constantly listening to truck noise?

I'd have to make sure I can hear everything around me.What's the difference between ear plugs and ear buds?Using plugs at the plant I agree with and many times its an OSHA requirement but not while driving.

They don't filter out the wailing of a siren.

And all the safety stuff CEMEX does, they are not required at the plant lol.

If you're up on the straight flat big super slab going 70 in cruise, I don't see any problem with the foam 33 NR earplugs. All you have to do it pull them out if you get called into the scale. No one will know except when you get old your ears will still function.

All this hysteria about sirens and honking lol. How often do you hear that stuff in everyday activity? Just listening to thte high pitched whine of the turbo all day can affect your high frequency hearing to the negative.

They actually make a ear plug that for fits to your ear canal. What they do is pour this goo into your ear and it hardens to a soft pliable earplug and you can use them over and over for life.

Would you rather break some silly law or be preventable deaf?

I don't know. There's another current thread that seems to indicate that any driver who doesn't make it through a light before it turns red is unprofessional and unsafe and a hazard to the community. If it's [allegedly] illegal then that's all that should matter, right?

I don't know of any written law prohibiting the use of "hearing protection" in vehicles that don't have excessive interior noise. That said, I wonder what sort of sounds these may prevent a user from hearing that might be kind of important.

If an attractive woman issues a cat call in my direction or toots their horn as an indication of a sexual attraction, I'd like to be able to hear it. These make my day and I'd hate to know I had to forego this simple pleasure because I did not want to hear ambient interior noise. Who am I to disregard these women's attempt to show their approval of my fabulous looks?

I got stopped for it called a CDL lawyer and told me while it's legal in some states some others will ask you not to Pennsylvania for example doesn't like them and it's a fine but I can't find anything on it neither the cdl lawyer I called he told me to pay for it, it doesn't carry point on your csa score or your driver's license
