Yes. The stop sign was supposed to have been on the street for the car to stop... according to the way I read the article. There was never a stop sign on the street where the truck was.

Rest assured North Carolina State Highway Patrol isn't happy about it and because the accident resulted in fatalities they want to know who hit that stop sign and didn't report it.

In addition to this beinh horrible for parties, the driver now has 2 fatalities on his PSP report even though he wasnt at fault. Every job he applies at for the next few years, he'll have to explain it and relive it with every applicationDharok Thanks this. -
tinytim Thanks this. -
So does this mean a predatory lawyer will try to get the driver charged with manslaughter? Just because you're not at fault doesn't mean much these days, thanks to all the tattle-tale gizmos on the trucks now. If that driver was speeding 5 minutes before by only 1 mph, a lawyer could make it out to be HIS fault. He was where he wasn't supposed to be, thanks to his speeding and the lawyer diving into the electronic data. Hello, prison, innocent driver. It could happen.

OMG!! I wish he pay attention more. Did the trucker survive at least?
