Just got my first pre-plan in months that wasn't my way back home for a break: 200 miles empty for a live load at one place that live-unloads at the building right next door. I... I just... I got nothin' for this one.

I've tried to contact the yard a few times since sending that QC message, but no luck. Looks like I'll be dumping it in Alan's lap tomorrow, 'cause I ain't rolling with it. I can circumvent every scale between here and Memphis, but not the ones just across the Mississippi. And they're pretty much always open. And I won't have burned off enough fuel by then to be legal. (I'm pretty sure I'd still be illegal if my tanks were empty.) -
Redtwin Thanks this.

So there I was in the bunk, trying to catch some Z's. Was having difficulty doing so due to a bout of indigestion. I'd crashed long about 10:30, and had slept fitfully for a couple of hours, not really falling fully asleep.
WHEN SUDDENLY, Edna tells me that a new message has arrived. Then she told me again. And again. And so it went until I had 8 new messages.
Lo! It's a load assignment! I am to meet up with another Abilene truck and take their Haverty's load to Colonial Heights! On the double! As soon as my break is over at 2:42am! Here's the phone number for the driver! Call 'em! Be on the road ASAP!
Well okay. Gonna be a rough night, but that's why the Flying Spaghetti Monster invented coffee.
So I call 'em. Turns out, it's a team operation. Which leaves me wondering why I have to repower their load.
Come to find out, they're supposed to take MY trailer. That would be the "45,000 lbs in a reefer" trailer that left me 800 lbs over gross with half a tank of fuel.
I am perplexed. It's not like the trailer is going to weigh less with one extra person in the cab.
After talking to them, they say they're not going to run it either. Which leaves me wondering why I need to repower their Haverty's load.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this.
