I checked the 50 amp fuse it was fine. The battery terminals were clean I'm thinking it's one of 2 things. A hot wire or a voltage regulator. I'm testing the alt right now at oriellys. I just don't see myself paying 300 dollars for a new alt through thermoking I feel that's highway robbery.

Checked all wiring going to the battery nothing looked bad. Checked voltage at the battery was 13.5 replaced 200amp mega fuse. Checked the 50 amp fuse. Checked the got wires from the alternator. Spliced a few wires up with butt connectors and heat shrink. Started on wiring harness and found some rotted wiring and spliced those as well. Checked voltage at alternator this one is giving 14.1 I got a 120amp alternator decided to go ahead and buy it. So after all this I'm still getting the alt code. I'm stumped. I'm almost ready to give up. O checked the voltage to the board it was at 11 or 12 but the voltage at the voltage sensor on the board was at the same level of the batteries.

I finally fixed it. Had to rewire the d+ wire as well as the power wire to the board. Changed out the quite for the battery's while I was at it.

I'm glad you found the issue.

And thanks for coming back and reporting what the fix was.

Engine code could have many reasons: low or air in coolant, low engine oil, low oil pressure, overheating.

I assume you might have a faulty sensor or a bad wiring.

Make sure the hand valves in the coolant lines are fully open. Check motor oil. Then I would check for the wiring.

Did you do anything around the truck/apu before you ran into those issues? If so, follow your steps backwards. Maybe you missed something..

How i can i upload the tripac troubleshoot manual? i found it online as a pdf and it gives a lot of good information. It even tells you how to replace the glow plugs and the compressor clutch.

Eng: This code indicates that the that the “8”
circuit has a failure. This can be caused by an
open engine reset switch or the engine
compartment On/Off Switch is in the Off position.
Typical causes for an open engine reset switch are
low oil pressure, high water temperature or a start
    failure.
If the unit is equipped with the optional DPF, an
[Eng] code can be generated by the Regeneration
switch being placed in the “Off” position or a DPF
shutdown code. Verify the DPF Regeneration
switch is in the “On” position and check to see if
there are any DPF alarm codes.
