The freight keeps dropping in the board week after week, getting harder for me to make my $2500+ take home these past few weeks. Granted I only been running 4 day weeks, so that might be the reason why.
But honestly, the freight on the loadboard is embarrassing at best.
Just a month ago there was 600+ loads at all times, with tons on $2000+, $3000+,and some $4000+ loads.
Now, about 200 loads and maybe a $2000+ load once or twice a day, here or there.
I think a few more months and this sick horse will be laid to rest.
A fire sale or bankruptcy is the only two options I see at this point for the contracts, as I don't think many will be getting renewed under the Celadon name.
I'm just hoping to save up enough money to finance a truck and jump to Schneider once this gravy train ends. -
I Used to qork for this company and thwy used to pay 0.90 plus surcharge to owner operators. But they started to give me 75 percent of cheap freight so i left. They also stole my escrow. The reason they are going belly side up is they have no integrity and steal and thia ia what you get when you do crooked studf. So i say Celeadon got what it deserved because the uper managemnt do crooked things

Maybe you guys didn't read what Jon said over a month ago. The company is now going to focus on the company drivers. My miles are booming.. maybe it's time for you to see if you can move your lease to another company or start brokering your own freight. Maybe talk to them to see if you can renegotiate your lease; im just not sure what this all means for the lease drivers; but, things have improved for company drivers such as myself..
it sux; I am sure; but there are other options for you if you reach out and try to find them. I'm sorry this has happened, but, not sorry that we are trying to continue to figure a way out of this mess.. Just throwing the towel in might be an option for you and not realize that your attitude might have something to do with owing your own business and making it a success. That's why I stayed a company driver... I don't want to have to figure out a way to stay successful in downturns and hard times.. -
Now, a bad attitude can go a long way to make an owner/operator a failure, but with Celadon playing shenanigans like they have, even an o/o with a great attitude would get the shaft!drvrtech77 and Jarhed1964 Thank this. -
I'm tired of the same old fights with all you guys who have no skin in the game. I'm living it: I'm sticking it out. Businesses try many things to make $$$ and seem as profitable as they can. Yes, it's not right , but it happens all the time. Now, they've admitted their mistakes, made changes, and am dealing with the aftermath. The truth of the matter is: unless we go into bankruptcy, they will make it: like many, many, other businesses in the country.. there will be winners and losers and I'm sorry about that; but until I feel the brunt of it; I'm sticking here. If these owners ops are feeling the hurt; they need to take care of their business and figure it out.. geez

Wow, someone's the koolaid...very easy to do as a company driver, not so much when you are trying to pay for $150k+ truck and expenses. I've had a couple buddies drive for Celadon, one shortly as a lease op, and they are about as shady as they get in this industry, and that's beyond low.
drvrtech77 and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
I hope they burn in hell
