What are some of the unwritten rules among truckers?

    Hey Driver
It wasn't my intention to rain on your parade or insult your experience. When you said that you bump the tires of the truck parked next to you, you just kind of put me in shock mode because most experienced drivers that I know will not even think about bumping someone else's tires or touching their equipment.

You have some experience in 13 years and obviously have no problem touching someone else's equipment so I sit corrected.
Regarding your father's trucks I've driven a couple of Trans Stars and Eagles myself.

I drove for a company back in the 80s called Olin Corporation. We had some of the First Eagle Walk-In sleepers that ever hit the industry. In 1984 or 85 we had a stand up bunk with a sink and a TV.
It also had an omnidirectional satellite on top of the sleeper and everybody was always very curious as to what it was. Back then it was very new tech.
    Peace Brother

I didnt clarify that I was talking about my company's equipment, but I do mention problems I see on other people's stuff. Being married to an attorney, I realize the ramifications in our litigious society and keep most things at arm's length, although I may offer advice.

Those 85 Eagles were when the 110" sleeper cab came about with the window in it. One of my favorite trucks is the 9670 with the tan and orange eagle paint job with a turbo wing on top and dual straights.

Dad ran for twenty five years for an LTL company, and now owns a T600 and a flatbed. Through the help of truckers report, I have learned invaluable information and am quickly becoming an expert on the ISX. Last week, I ran my route, made my drops and had dad pick me up on my 30 minute break so we could get the starter loose, took a 1200 ft lb impact to do it. Memorial Day was spent installing a 13 inch drop visor and clear LED's, touching up the paint chips, and a little maintenance.
We've put a turbo blanket on it, a Donaldson freeflow muffler, and done some emissions correcting and the truck is in the upper7's to low 8s on fuel.

Ok, sorry about the dissertation, I just grew up around the stuff. I'm old school in that regard, and anyone who loads cars has my respect, I sometimes pull Nissan freight and see what it takes. You earn your money that's for sure. Take care.

I can tell you a story about that T600 when it first came out. They called it the Ant Eater. And it was the most ridiculous looking truck I had ever seen at the time. The hoods came open rather easily and if you weren't paying attention you could go down the road and hit the brakes and forget about it and it would come open very easily on you. This happened to me right in front of a scale house because I wasn't paying attention to closing up my hood and got busy talking with another driver. The place was Jackson Mississippi. One of those truck stops I think it's a Pilot now it's a mandatory right hand turn out of the lot. You had no choice but to go through the scale. That particular truck stop back then had high pressure washers and you could spray your truck down after you fueled.
    Ahh.... the good old days.

Yep, the anteater came out in 1985, flat top 42", 60 inch or a 60 inch aerodyne with stacks behind the doors. It was the ugliest truck I had ever seen, and now it's one of my favorites. I remember the disdain I felt looking at it in Overdrive as a young kid. I'm not sure how sketchy that Pilot was back then, but it's still a shady place. I pick up my loads about three miles from there every day.

It wasn't a Pilot then it was something else. There are two pilots in Jackson and it's the one that has a truck dealer behind it either Freightliner or Kenworth I think. I think it's Highway 49 that runs right in front of it. Anyway long time ago.
    Okay take care driver

You're running down a 3 lane with a left lane restriction. Posted limit is 70. You come up on a 16 ft double wide rolling down the big road at 20 under. He's running lanes 2 and 3 and his pilot car is permanently in lane 2. What do you do?
