So your company bent you over then, not the customer.
Where I'm at they have never done that to me. We are small and looking, for more good people. O O and company. Pm me if you wish to know more
But I would leave them if it's not the first time like you said.. best of luck in this issue

I had the same thing happen to me today but Im local. Got to the drop on time then they say come back tomorrow. Thats cool. Im going to charge double now and your not getting it first thing in the morning. It sucks when dispatchers and Co. put you out there bad like that.

you called consignee 20 min prior to delivery time. You should have called 20 min after getting loaded and you would have learned of the new delivery time. Lesson learned.

Put arrival time on bills, ask about lay over pay, paying you money is not ths first thing that comes out of their mouths because they might assume you know you will get detention pay, ask.

Does he know exactly when they changed the delivery time? I wouldnt expect to have to call a dispatcher every 20 minutes to make sure everything is still good. They should have notified him

    mitmaks Thanks this.

Question: How do you get company you are leased to, to pay that $500 per day or whatever, that you say on here that you would charge? I assume these numbers are on the contract that you sign before, or in order to lease onto your company. My point; I hear all the time from owner ops saying they would charge this or that, and actually require it! Okay, that sounds great but I have been an O/O, albeit a short 18 mo's but I booked all my own freight and I got screwed a few times and there is nothing you can legally do except take them to court. Well, a half day or whole days pay isn't worth the time, or cost, to go to court and end up possibly loosing and paying more. So, I ask, how do you get your money?

Exactly, how do you make them pay you?
Rveryones so tuff on here but in reality most of you would take it in the ### and keep on rolling down the road.

OK I'm leased to a company so any load I book from a broker then all dispatching, pickup/receiving times, possible detention/layover, lumpers, general load problems/issues - that stuff is all my responsibility to deal with.

I don't get the loads or any load details from the company I'm leased to ever. Those always come from brokers. If I have issues I get a revised rate con for detention, lumpers or whatever. Sometimes there are disagreements and some flexibility is required but normally these things can be worked out.

Imo this situation in the OP is entirely the driver's fault. You should have confirmed everything with the broker. Sometimes it's even prudent to call their shipper and receiver. Can't leave this stuff to chance. No-one will take better care of you than you. You got ####ed because you didn't cross your t's and dot your i's.
