My best advice for someone just getting into open deck. Get a good securement regulation book. Read it cover to cover. then read it again the next day. And the next. And the next. Read the thing every day until those words are imprinted in your mind.

When loading, all the truck next to you and the guy loading you how they would secure it, chances are they know, but don't take their word for gospel, double check what they say with the book.

For tarping, just accept that the first few times you will be redoing that tarp all the way to the reciever. Aftet tarping enough times you will figure out how to do it faster and only have to do it once. Sorry but just no short cuts on that learning curve. Don't get frustrated and don't get in a hurry. know that you will get better with more experience.

Ive been with mercer for five years. The pay is the same as any other good own deck carrier. We all got the same customers and the rates are with in pennies of each other. 4 months ago i told every one they would have to run me off cause i ain't ever leaving. I was as happy here as anyone could be anywhere. Today? The IT problems has cost me so much money that i can't honestly say ill be here next year. I just don't know. You miss out on enough money and you gotta start looking at other options. Remember, same customers and practically the same rates no matter if your truck has mercer on its door or landstar. Or bennett, ace doran, or admiral merchant for that matter.

7.67 on the last tank. So much for a no aerodynamics big hood truck not being able to get good fuel mileage.

Whats that load paying? A buck a mile?

How heavy are you ? 70 to 79 to 68 might work,. As would 70 to newstanton, off at breezewood , down 70 to 81

I've been eyeing this guy.... wireless start/stop.
Amazon.com: Champion Power Equipment 75537i 3100 Watt RV Ready Portable Inverter Generator with Wireless Remote Start: Patio, Lawn & Garden

And this guy sells an extended run kit for a couple hundred bucks.
