Thank you Moose, I've got the bottle of it right here and for some reason I could not think of the name of it.

I wish the OP would listen to some of the posts that say GO TO YOUR DOCTOR instead of messing around with all other ideas that may not work and get a script for this pill. it is a simple water pill, it isn't habit forming and it helps.

Another reason for high BP and diets - especially starvation diets like the OP - it the fact that the body is in panic mode and everything to do with burning fat is taking care of just that - BURNING fat.

SO GO TO YOUR DOC's, asked for this and talk to him about your diet.

It is interesting you brought up this subject. Last night while reading another blood pressure message in facebook I was thinking about a friend of mine from school. He always had a bit of a weight problem and in 2001 just a few months before the 911 attacks he died. What happened is he went on a starvation diet drinking only water. His wife went to work one morning while he was still in bed. By the time she got back home that afternoon he had died while still in bed. He died from Ketoacidosis.

For the record it is my belief the best overall cure for high blood pressure is lifestyle changes. I am not speaking about just truck drivers. Having high blood pressure is not something you should be doing (fixes) just for a (card). Since I retired I have lost some weight and without any medication I actually suffer from low blood pressure at times now. I'm careful about what I eat and avoid processed food. If you DO NOT get this condition corrected, and I am NOT speaking of just correcting it for a few days just to get a card either. You are putting your vision in jeopardy. You are increasing the risks of heart problems as well. Another thing that bothers me is all the overweight drivers out there that are either full type 2 diabetes or are borderline. Their blood sugar is OUT of control. Wake up folks. Very soon you won't be able to fast the night before a physical because the exam will be an A1C and you can't hide this one. If your A1C is over 10 it takes MONTHS to get this down.

Just keep my words in mind next time you grab that 40 oz soda and that hamburger and go back to driving.

Years ago way before Pilot bought out Flying J's I was sitting in the fish hook in Greenwood La trying to eat breakfast when I noticed a guy that must have weighed over 400 pounds make 5 trips to the buffet and return with a plate latterly rounded off with food. I was speaking to my mother that morning and told her I was watching a guy commit suicide by food.

Moose, I kind of don't agree with this "If your A1C is over 10 it takes MONTHS to get this down."

I have to appointments today, one is a annual check and the other is a painful two hours of xrays, MRIs and CT scans. I know my a1c is high, can't help with the amount of stress I am going through and the pain I have to deal with but I had a 9.8 at one time under similar conditions with an ultimatum from my doc, so I went on a really hard diet, the next visit I had a 7.4, and after that 6.2 - this was 6 months of eating right, low carbs and a lot of veggies made right. No soda or coffee and water, lots of water. So it doesn't take a long time, it can be done but you have to be disciplined well enough to do it quickly.

I just wanna clarify to new comments on this thread...I have been focusing on getting more healthy already. Trucking is simply just something that's helping motivate me more through some of the days that I'm literally having fights with myself in my head to avoid that fast food joint I just drove past....

My point was when the FMCSA changes these rules (and yes at some point it is going to be changed) they will set up a max A1C. I suspect it will be 7 or 8. If you have a A1C of say 11 or 12 it will take time to get the readings under these numbers. Yes I agree you can lower your A1C in a few weeks but not to this degree. 4 or 5 points A1C will take 60 to 90 days to lower.

Dietary sodium has little to nothing to do with your blood pressure. Your kidneys constantly re-uptaking the same sodium over and over is what raises your BP. That's the issue, not the salt in the food. I eat/take in around 6g of sodium a day which is almost 3x the recommended daily limit, my BP is awesome, so is my cholesterol, my bodies inflammation level and my heart. Most people that are put on blood pressure "medication" are actually on diuretics, aka removing the salt from pee like the body is trying to do in the first place that the kidneys are interfering with. I'm not going to hijack this into a fitness thing, but blaming the amount of salt somebody eats is blaming a symptom while ignoring the cause. For the record, I was formally obese, scary cholesterol and stage 2 hypertension.

True, but it only takes 90 days because that's how far back an A1C goes. The blood sugar itself can be brought down 4 or 5 points in a non insulin dependent person in 72hrs. Holding it there is the challenge for somebody that doesn't understand how to eat to keep it down.

Banannas are pure sugar which raises blood sugar and then A1C, the others have no affect. Loosing weight will but in the end it's carbs/sugars.
