OP, you should read and re-read this. Every new or aspiring driver should.

    Very well said @unloader.

There is a lot of "reality shock" you'll have to experience and learn to deal with in the first 4-8 months related to parking (or lack of), difficulty learning to back well enough to be comfortable backing into even relatively simple spots, how learning time and clock management is key to making a decent living or barely getting by, the problems associated with winter weather driving and summer traffic and construction tie-ups, and I could go on and on.

All I'm trying to say is, don't come in with unrealistic expectations. It's a tough job, especially in the beginning, learning basic skills and keeping yourself out of trouble.

Yeah i understand man. I agree it is easier said than done. I havent actually stepped into a truck and drove and lived that experience. Im just going off youtube videos , forums, and other sites. I appreciate you giving it to me like it is. Better to know the "Actual Truth" Instead of assuming

Again, I appreciate everybodys responses.. you guys did open my eyes to alot of things. You cant put a price on experience . The money will come eventually, but building experience and learning how to operate the truck safely is what i should be mostly concerned about

Forget the money. Should be about safe driving the first year. Learning what to do. Find a company that will provide you good training and equipment. Why I am still looking..lol

And don't sweat over a few pennies per mile from one option to the next. Bottom line is they have figured out what the minimum gross wage is that will be tolerated, and set the per mile rate to match the expected weekly miles to come out to match what you could do elsewhere at different rate and different miles production.

The whole idea of putting in your first year for pennies is a myth. I jumped from Swifts ship after one month.
There is money to be made your first year out here.

Don't fall for the grass is greener mindset and jump from mega to mega though. Real opportunity doesn't advertise 24/7 365 days a year and offer a recruiting bonus.
    Something to keep in mind.
