It seems like when I see a company truck hauling ###, it always says Giltner or Carter Express on the side.

Makes since if you constantly keep your foot in the plate but a seasoned driver knows pulling a 75 to 80 thou load threw the grape vine, cabbage, blue ridge needs power. Holding up a mile of angry 4 wheelers that pass in every blind curve, every double yellow is asking for trouble. I can get a ticket in a 62 mph truc just as quick as an 80 mph truck. It's about power when I need it not passing every other truck in the lane to make me feel better.

    It's
ALL about choices. I'm tired of people using the govt to stifle that.

Well speed tends to have the ability to get away from the pack of idiots who tend to ride with there foot in the dash,a gps to tell them how to get to the same location they have been to a couple of times, their computer set up right next to them so they can watch porn.its not about efficiency it's about being able to be smarter than the average bear and make the decision to go A bit faster or slower if you want.there is no reason the vehicle should make all the decisions.we as the operator of the truck need to have the ability to make the tool work for us.period

Millis Transfer has their trucks turned to 70 if you have a year experience and follow fuel solutions and watch idle time

I don't understand how so many people don't understand the concept of drag. There's a point at which it takes more energy than before to maintain your speed. Whether that's because of a hill or drag, you're getting reduced efficiency.

Because some times drag just doesn't make a difference. I am running the speed limits from a colorado springs to belgrade mt. Yes this means that I run 80 through Wyoming. Costs me an extra $500 at the end of the month but generates an extra $5,200 in revenue for the month. I don't pull a box and have done it at 14'6" wide. Scare the #### out of the drivers that do not see me until I am next to them.

You've got a good set up. I tried this theory but it didn't pan out on paper. The faster I run the less I make.

My truck has a factory governor set at 92 mph. But very rarely does it see over 65 & 85% of the time I run 60. I've found by slowing down I'm not catching traffic & I just cruise along. Also, it lowers my cost of operation (between fuel mileage & truck wear & tear) that I make the same profit with less revenue generated which means I work less. To me it's about making more while working less.
