Why not just complete the training, put in three months and go into a local trucking job if you're close to being done?

Maybe the getting fat part? Maybe the added stress? Riding with someone else. My trainer wasn't too bad, but I can tell you it was the longest 2 weeks of my life. He was a super chain smoker too, I reeked of cigarettes smell, (no wonder I was being treated horribly at Subway etc) lol. We didn't shower often (his choices) and when we did it was in a hurry.. no relaxing with him, 18 hour days 6-8 sleep tops and back at it again... This guy survived on those pound cake doughnuts and coffee band cigarettes...

When I went out on my own... I don't know how I didn't have a stroke lol. I remember the feeling of relief when I turned that key to the off position at the end of the day... Traffic, scared for bridges, you don't know the roads etc... (I ran a lot of Socal i5 corridor etc...

I mean I hung in there, now I do it without thinking about it but it was tough to make it through. The food sucks... There so much bad aspects about it TBH..

My Army contract is up in October & if I decide to go another 10 years,I'll be denied. I am 47 & put on weight easy when no gym & no home cooking.
I already gained 10 lbs of fat in 2 weeks.
I'm going to go home and eat sales & run, run, run!!!!
    Lol

Eh, its respectable. $1000/day I'd start congratulating myself.

Maybe it's the company you picked? Heard some have better trainers than others

I think I might get out and go to the local iron workers union. I like truck driving and all but I don't see myself making under 25 dollars an hour for much longer.

Well, I guess that's another good reason to move out to a bigger city. The union halls for every trade seem to be more numerous and open to questions about joining there.

Yeah I mean it has its pros and cons. My rent is twice as much as my co workers mortgage but there is also more job opportunities. I always wanted to do this anyways. I got accepted when I was 18 and the economy crashed and they didn't take on any apprentices.

I have some friends who have been doing it a long time and they love it. I figure if I want to do it better to do it sooner than later for the pension and all.
