I got downsized back in 2008 and was done with IT, or so I thought. I got an offer that just intrigued me and thought I would give it a go. It actually turned out very well and led to several other interesting IT positions. Absolutely nothing wrong with my job, just ready to retire in 2 years and move on. I have done all I can or care to do in this field. Looking forward to new problems.

    G13Tomcat and Lepton1 Thank this.

    Lepton1,

Learning new "tricks" is why I'm leaning to flatbed. I don't mind a challenge but, I want quality training so I don't kill anyone. Funny I'm not even in the biz however, I can't help check out how any flatbed I pass has the load secured.

    TripleSix and Lepton1 Thank this.

And of course if you see anything wrong you pick up the cb and let him know...right? Most flat bedders
have radios, except the foreigners. Watch out for them I've seen them put 2 chains on a super coil. 45k+. Flatbedders also do something that is unheard of in this industry....we help each other out. Good luck to you. Jb

I know two guys in their 80s. They do short runs. Work about six to eight hours a day. Neither of them has thrown a tarp or a strap for that matter in 15 years. When they load in front of you, you help them. It also helps you to get going. Watching another man work while you sit in your truck if you can lend a hand is against the code.
