I don't have scales but that's a possibility...I asked him to put it against my step but he was a new operator and pretty nervous.

    It's 45,300lbs...it would be close.

SAR, Ruthless and cke Thank this.

Believe me I'm no expert on step decks as I only pull one 2or 3 times a year but I've been told you can only haul about 40,000 of 40 foot material and still scale the back end

It was only supposed to be 39,500 but they changed it last minute and I wasn't sweating it.

    SAR and cke Thank this.

Pretty much how all stuff for power plants goes. I haul plenty of things that are completely shrink wrapped with 2-3 layers of plastic and still have to tarp them.

Also haul job boxes designed for outdoor storage. If there's even the slightest chance of rain they must be tarped. If picking up and delivering them same day with 0% chance of rain I can sometimes get away with no tarps. Depends on the guy in charge for that job.

I refuse to tarp that stuff. I have no problem tarping clean steel. If it's already rusted to hell and stored in a mud hole I'll let the rain wash it off. In not wasting my time tarping rusty steel. If the shipper has a problem with that they can unload it and I'll go find another load.

I've hauled loads of pipe locally like that. Everything has a curve and eventually it's just putting the bigger stuff on the edges to hold all the small goofy shaped stuff in the middle. Never fun to secure.
