Maverick job opinings

yeah they called, spent the last 2 years there,.... im in oklahoma...and where your from makes a difference, they're pretty serious about where you live because their serious about getting you home every weekend (so i would assume they have to keep track of not only if your gonna be in a traffic lane, but also how many people in areas they bring on at one time- just a guess). recruitor said that was part of the reason I waited so long. keep in touch with your recruitor....i proably bugged the crap out of mine, but he was cool.

 

i called today maryland is now 11th on the waiting list. I think im just gonna go somewhereand get some experience. Knowing my luck they will call theweek after i signon with someone Maverick told me 6 months experience bypasses the waiting list. so maybe i need to just stick out 6 months at werner or usa and then move to maverick. I tink that would be the better option right now.

 

check out boyd brothers. They hire in your area for regional drivers for flat bed.

whats this waiting list all about? they called me and offered me a job in the specialized division hauling glass and i havent even started school yet... is there something i dont know but should?

 

well....some would say that 'specialized' is like the ugly stepsister at maverick....or just say they suck ### and have crapy equiment to boot. Others may say something positive....I'd so some research around here and try to get your own conclusion. The regular flat division is reputable.....but anywhere will have its ups and downs. Specialized wasnt part of the original Maverick so to speak....they bought it from Schneider and are working on it, I guess. Also, during your research....google 'maverick in the rear view' one of the guys around here wrote it, I believe about specialized....its a well written, factual, and informative article. But also remember that there are ups/downs to every company.

something similar happened to me when i was in school. maverick called and wanted me to come to orientation i called them back and told them i wasnt done school, im still on the waiting list which makes you wonder why am i still on the waiting list now. how can you come up one day and now your state is 11th on the list. it doesnt make sense. Be prepared since you havent gone to school yet to sit on the waiting list for a while after gettting your cdl.

 

Gentleman, The problem with hiring right now is there is NO FREIGHT. Most companies are really tightening their belts and trying to survive this piss poor economy and are only hiring experienced drivers. Right now there are plenty of them available due to companies closing, downsizing, and those that are always looking for greener pastures. It is not a good time to be a noobie in the trucking industry. Of course there are some companies such as Werner, Swift, England,USA, and Covenant that are always hiring due in part to their size and the huge turnover rate that plagues the industry. Working for these companies can be a bit of a struggle as they can appear quite impersonal and only concerned with the bottom line. A driver who is of strong will and determined to make it can however make a living and gain the experince needed to hire on with a more driver oriented company such as Maverick. All companies (even Maverick) have their share of problems and you cannot please everyone so use your best judgement before deciding which outfit you want to go with also understand Trucking is a lifestyle not just a Job it is not for everyone. You will be gone from home living in a truck it can be a very lonely job at times, Maverick is one of the few companies who actually try to get their drivers home weekly it doesn't always happen but they do try just remember any company that guarantee's you weekly hometime is lying there are no guarantee's in this industry. Didn't mean to get so longwinded just thought I might be able to give you some insight into what will be one of the biggest decisions you will make in your life. Again this is not just a job to pay the bills with it is a major lifestlye change and will require you to dig deep within yourself sometimes. There is alot more involved in Trucking than just driving.
