Better have one hell of a rate going up your pretty much never getting anything back out of there. Maybe on a rare occurrence a load of fish lol.
There was a feller that made trips up there forgot his name but you should be able to find his posts here in the reefer section -
I will check it out thank you. I am hoping to find some steady loads up there that pay good.
-
Pay good? HA.
We had a thread not too long ago about one who went up there. Many said they would not do it for less than say 25 thousand dollars from the lower 48. Because you might have a load there, but you sure aint getting much back rarely.
Even airplanes with the guaranteed overnight eagle document delivery with the US post office cannot get it there in 24 hours. They are usually still over the pacific at 24 hours closing on Alaska. That's how remote it is. Its more like 36 hours to fairbanks for a set of papers from little rock by air.
And finally, Alaska is a place where people go, but do not always come back, even if they wanted to. And if you were in a semi with a Alaska Plate attached to your front end next to your home tag, it's a badge to have.KB3MMX and Brettj3876 Thank this. -
It would definitely be an interesting trip.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I've never been up that way but speaking from experience on rough terrain (oilfield) i hope you don't have a fleet spec'd cascadia.
Tall rubber, full lockers would be ideal but a single axle cross lock will do and 18 or 8LL. So yea basically an oilfield spec'd truck is what you need to pull your box up there. Gotta pay to play and even then its no guaranteed paydayx1Heavy Thanks this. -
No I sure don't have a cascadia. I don't have lockers in my Pete though. But I have been wanting to get them put in anyway.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
There are some trucks I wont take into Alaska. I will need either a Western Star, Keniworth or a Pete. But it will have to have some reduction a bit of frame, 400 plus gallons in fuel and chains etc. It will end up being heavier than 80K gross by the time I finish tossing stuff into it ready to do battle with whatever Alaska may hold for me.
Brettj3876 Thanks this. -
Be careful, this guy is M.I.A
Driving to Alaska
But seriously this is the man @vikingswen

Running produce to Alaskanot4hire, Brettj3876, x1Heavy and 1 other person Thank this. -
I just got rid of my Kenworth that would have been ideal to take up there. Had the 18 speed and full lockers, but it was in the shop more than my old truck that I traded in for it.
