Hi Voodoo. Really appreciate your straight up information on SRT. I read and hear bad things about them on par with Swift and Western Express. The recruiter who called me was very nice. Considering going with them as I happened to see one of their trucks here in Oregon. Recruiter told me they only have 10-speeds and maybe I should go with an automatic company because I told her my downshifting is a bit rusty. Basically I have trouble timing it right and rev too much or miss the gear so end up breaking and shifting back into 2nd or 3rd at a stop. I got to learn somewhere and I'd probably get a 10-speed at Swift and Western starting out anyways. I guess my concern would be the training part since I am a student. Trainers look ok there?

    Voodoo Pyg Thanks this.

Oh man welcome back. I know I'm late but I've been tied up recently. Okay. I picked up my truck on Wednesday. I slept at the Kenworth (Thank God) as they were polite enough to allow it. Now I was assigned a load to New York from Grand Prairie, TX. Such a good trip. Only downfall is that I forgot what day of the week it was and I ended up here a day early. I drop this load tomorrow night. Who says recap hours can't be useful?

Hello @Rocknroller4 . Now understand that my statement here cannot nor does it serve to influence your decision. I too read all about the "bad" at SRT as well. I even see them still nursing the dead pulse about that driver that died despite SRT terminating all that were involved in that fiasco. But I came because they looked past my horrid DAC report and gave me a job. They've been good to me out the gate. But your experience is your own.
You say your downshifting is rusty? The good news is that you are required to take a driving test when you come for orientation. I had to just to show that I could still do it as I've driven up to an 18 speed tranny. But they are getting automatic transmissions on the fleet. They will work with you no matter what. I didn't have to go with a trainer due to what I've already done. But from what I hear from some of the students, there are some good and bad. But just like with any company, you have to be the one to decide if it's the right fit. Again, my statement here cannot nor does it serve to influence your decision.

Pretty ironic you are parked next to a Stevens truck, haha. Be safe out there.

While I've been partial to Petes, I have to say This is one of the best trucks I've ever driven. I drove one in training for Stevens so it is second nature.

I don't get that at all. How can anyone have unemployment gaps that "last too long"?

As much as I hate to ask, did you try U.S. Express? I know for sure they run automatic transmissions.

I've been unemployed for a year. Wasn't eligible for unemployment pay either so yea I don't get it. I'm trying to find a job. I refuse to work retail or fast food again.

I did but unfortunately living out West they don't offer solo. Only teams. I will just have to try Swift I guess to start. It's really my only last option left. Well Swift, Werner, CR England (hell no) or Navajo Express.
