Bingo! It has literally been decades since I only worked 40 hours, or less, in a given week. Typically, it is 50 to 70.

Had a job very similar to that. Was delivering various petroleum lubes in a box truck. They didn't really care when I came in, just before 9, as long as I got all my stops done before the places closed. Owner would call me before my 8 hours were up to see if I was heading back so he wouldn't have to pay any precious overtime. Payed a little more than what you're aiming for and no weekends

You're not going to find a trucking job with banker hours.Loads dictate your hours.

:laughing-guffaw: Ah, the eternal quest, trucking when YOU want it. Good heavens, more like 9 pm to 4 pm, I tell ya', this is what's out there. Heck, when I had my truck, I ran 'round the clock, if need be. I don't know what to tell you, pal, trucking has WAY too many variables to have set hours. Good luck, tho, every driver here has tried I bet,,,more than once.

I agree with 99.99% of your statement. I found what he/she is looking for, but it took me 30 years to find it and I am not giving it up any time soon! Lol.
Also I wouldn't get away with 8 hours if I didn't own my rig as they would want more production than I give them.

My first driving job was a local driver for a company that worked 8-5. I had to leave at 02:00 so I could be back before they closed the gates at 17:00. :D

yes, it is called either dedicated or private fleet, which i am a part of. but i work nights. barely touch over 45 hours per week, not hard at all, we have power equipment to load/unload, and all the breaks i want, since no boss is breathing down my neck. but i rarely take any breaks, as i like getting back quicker.

look around, they are out there.

I'd think there were more gigs like that. A lot of companies these days (at least non-trucking) prefer to have 2 workers that work 30hrs per week a piece vs. one that works 60.

What's the difference between dedicated and private fleet or are they synonyms?
