I think the NRA know they have to compromise on some things to protect right to bear arms. So they are of course agreeing to review bump stocks.

Like with every mass shooting this will turn into one huge ugly fight and nothing will get done except possibly ban bumpstocks.

I think this will turn into something bigger this time.

The automatic weapons fire sound has too many people upset who are in a position to do something about it.

Until the next mass shooting. And the next and the next.

Don't worry ,at the right time a politician owned by the NRA will file a amendment which will kill off any new rule.

Trump would be onboard as long as the NRA is.

It still only fires one shot per trigger pull. A true select fire rifle has full auto capability in any posture or position. With this setup, once the stock no longer touches your shoulder it’s disabled. Hip firing is impossible as well.

I have an M1 Garand rifle. There is a way, with a string tied between the action and trigger, so that when you pull on the string it pulls the trigger and fires a round...then as the action cycles, it pulls the trigger for the follow-up rounds as long as you're holding that string until you fire the final round from the clip. When I bought that rifle 15 or 20 years ago and was looking into it for other reasons (has some old military stampings and such, so I was trying to figure out what they meant), I stumbled upon that little trick. I also saw the official ATF ruling that an M1 with that string attached was considered "fully automatic" and therefore illegal. The bump stock has the same effect, which is why I am surprised they were deemed acceptable by the ATF under Obama in 2010. Then again, his administration was also responsible for Fast and Furious, where tens of thousands of guns were allowed to flow to Mexican drug cartels and ultimately the murder of US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Those guns were supposed to be traced back to US gun shops to push an anti-gun agenda, and I'm sure this whole approval of bump stocks had the same motivation. He knew it was only a matter of time before someone with evil in their heart would use one to commit a horrendous crime, thereby creating a crisis...and we all know how the Obama administration views crisis.

So yeah, the NRA is on board with banning something the Obama administration had no business approving. There is no useful purpose, as you aren't going to get an accurate shot using one of these. The NRA is made up of responsible gun owners, who are aware that you are responsible for every piece of lead you send downrange. There is no place for "spray and pray" in anything the NRA advocates.
