Question is this, if robots take over driving trucks, will they prefer Red long nose Pete's, White Volvos, Orange FL?
Lepton1, Dharok, SingingWolf and 3 others Thank this. -
Yup. Go ahead and quit right now! Quit before anything actually happens.
Quit decades in advance scooter. Its literally your best option.
Btw, i love these articles. They all say the same thing.... NOBODY KNOWS ####! The future of trucking will change, but how far? We do not know.
I heard tommorow which is wednesday, were all done. Tonight at midnight the automated fleet rolls out. Anyone caught driving afterwards.... striaght to prison. -

I already thought about quitting when I realized that Tesla in all their over juiced wisdom decided to build a cabover that cannot do more than 300 miles on a set of D size batteries. 80,000 freaking pounds capable of becoming 88,000 with one axle on there. 6 extra ton of battery should do the trick.
FredZeppelin77, Lepton1, jethro712 and 4 others Thank this. -
All these stories are written by people who are absolutely clueless about the realities of trucking and who are interviewing tech giants who also are completely clueless about the realities of trucking.
FredZeppelin77, Lepton1, 59EX and 7 others Thank this. -
Wow.
(Always meant to ask Scooter, BTW, how do you get your feet up on the dash?)
Some really smart sciency guys that start evaluating things way far out in the future are afraid of Artificial Intelligence, and what it would mean as a global community if these seperate entities were to become self-aware. (The movie - I, Robot.)
I thought I read awhile back two robots started communicating between themselves,
faster and faster, in like a "Robot Shorthand," and they, (Engineers,) turned them off.
Pulled the plug - cause it was not a programmed event. What?
It was spontaneous. Already happened. This is an event already documented in the past.
So now plans are on the table to put autonomous vehicles on the road.
Ok.
There goes your rest breaks; these guys drive 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With no piss bottle.
What keeps them from racing each other?
Why couldn't they deduce/conclude that if they rammed "you" off the road, It could get "There" quicker.
Why not form a Convoy 20 trucks long and smash all the cars out of the way?
Suddenly "you humans" are a carbon based life form infestation. The enemy. And just in the way.
Yeah, we're not there yet. But SKYNET looms on the horizon; intentional or not.Last edited: Oct 10, 2017

It's a typical media hit piece against truckers , I think he sees truck drivers as the driver in duel .
They need to remake duel with an Otto truck terrorizing motorists , squashing baby ducks and being hacked by some nut job to ram into a Berkeley protestmisterG, x1Heavy and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
On Dec 18th when I get my ELD I'll be in the sleeper while doing 75mph down the highway.
I keep hearing the ELD will stop all accidents. SO I'm sleeping except loading and unloading.
