August completely blew by me and I completely spaced doing my 2290 form for the year.

Short of driving clear to my closest IRS office and having them figure the penalties for me, is there a place I can figure it out on my own?

Pay it now online and they will mail you how much you owe for late fee

I have never done online payment and filing of it, have always just mailed it in, and would like to keep doing that if at all possible.

If you do it online it will automatically figure it all up.

Then send it in & in a month or three you will get a bill from them for the penalties & interest.

It's funny you have to pay the 2290 tax in advance but if your late paying it in advance you get a penalty , it never used to be that way , we would just pay it before base plate time , no penalty
Only the IRS would charge a penalty for paying something in advance.

I remember when it first happened , I asked my accountant to explain it and he got hysterical , I finally hung up on him
