I LIKE the part where they say, "Use the Runaway Truck Ramp if in doubt. THERE IS NO FINE OR PENALTY FOR USE". More places should have this.

I've seen that in a few places. I wouldn't want to encourage unnecessary use of them since they can destroy equipment, but if you need to use it you shouldn't be scared to do so because of the penalties. Especially in such a low speed steep grade situation where using it might not tear up the truck.

MACK E-6 and Lepton1 Thank this.

Ihave an issue with number 3, some drivers could look at that as constant pressure. Iwas always taught to be in the correct gear with the Jake's on full and let the engine do the work, save the brakes for an emergency

I've never done a grade higher than 7% at US weights, but 14% at any weight would scare the crap out of me. And while that is the correct strategy, if they are recommending "lowest gear" not just "low gear", that tells me that thing is STEEP. It may not even be enough to slow a heavy truck.

With my cummins I could come off a 14% no problem still in 3rd direct at 180,000lbs

I've found two of those in PA. Thankfully those are relatively short, only about a 1/2 mile.

It was always fun coming down off the mountains in the middle of the night on a 9% for 5 miles on US-30 with hazmat on heavy pups that can't go through the tunnels on the PA Turnpike.
