That was true in 2008-2010. But this driver shortage isn't going anywhere.

while your license IS state issued the feds dictate who can get a cdl. as of today this state legal substance is STILL listed as federal
    schedule 1 restricted substance.

    you have 2 options.

    1. shave your head and wait 2 months for grow back. by that time the minimum length will be there.
    2. seek employment elsewhere.

no, its true. follicle isnt required but allowed if a company wants. been awhile but if memory serves they look at the closest 3/8 inch or so closest to the root. which gives a picture of the last 30 days or so.

@gentleroger can give more accurate info on length.

Even our randoms are hair follicle now. Had my random a few months ago - 2 or3 days after a haircut.

Hair grows at different rates. Head hair grow faster than arm pit hair which grows faster than toe hair, for example.

Longer hair grows more slowly as well

It's just ####ing insulting. I work for one of the best driving companies out there, and they don't even go to that length for drug testing. What the #### does Schneider do for you guys that necessitates a ####ing hair test?

Sorry to be profane, but that really shocked me when I found out about it. It's not the FBI.

Schneider gives jobs to slack jawed yokels.

When you have few openings and can be selective on who you hire and retain, such draconian measures aren't needed. When you take new entrants, more scrutiny on some things is needed. Just look at all the threads in the last 3 years about failed drug tests.

Summer 2016 my trainee did his hair follicle at home and was surprised we did another drug test when he showed up to oreintation. His results were slow coming back, but he already had a clean test so they allowed him to come out with me. Two days later he gets a call from our medical department asking if he has a prescription for the Vicodin in his test. Guy says "yeah sure, let me get that for you", then promptly quits.

I think the guy thought he was in the clear and took some happy pills that weren't his, figuring they'd be out of his pee before a random. Wasn't counting on a second hair test. By quiting before being forced to submit the prescription they guy technically hasn't failed the drug test yet. These are the guys we're dealing with.

There was a time when Schneider was the best bad company you could work for. Evidently the bloom is off that rose.

And the really funny part of it is that they don't even train drivers anymore. Maybe they offer tuition reimbursement now, but they used to have a really good #### school up there in Green Bay.
