So out of 325 million people, 1550 deaths are from apnea.
Double that or triple it if you want.

What percentage is that of the population in the U.S.?
A small fraction of 1%, either way. A very small fraction.

Now, can you tell me the percentage of drivers being forced into these sleep studies, and how many of those are diagnosed with it?
    Is the ratio much higher?
Are most apnea deaths with drivers?

This industry has latched onto a money maker for the insurance industry, and they are probably getting something in return.

It's probably more like many of those died from the drugs the doctors gave them for....whatever...BP, Cholesterol, Hemorrhoids :biggrin_2554:...
Blame it on sleep apnea. Easy scape goat.
One thing is guaranteed. They are all about making money. If they can't make money from it. They ignore it's existence.

    I know.
The side effects from many drugs is more scary than the untreated condition.

Their is a website someone listed that had CPAP machine really cheap it on one of the CPAP posting. Just to see price

    http://www.thecpapshop.com/our-cpap-machines/auto-cpap-machines

They should get a Auto set CPAP. It can run at a set pressure and it can automatically change pressure on each breath. That's a nice option to have if someone gets not so good sleep test the CPAP machine will self adjust pressure vs going back to a sleep doctor or sleep lab for more sleep test you can just set in Auto Set mode and get good results.

I would get a modern CPAP like ResMed AirSense 10 or Resperonic Dreamstation older CPAPs can be loud when running from what I hear. They really made big improvement on new CPAP machine.

They also have some new mini CPAP travel machine. That might be nice in a truck but you give up heat and humidity because no room for water tank on the travel cpap. I had some trouble keeping power to CPAP in truck without but I'm running humidifier and a heated air tube.
