Depends on what you are hauling, time of year and so on. Some weeks I only spend about $50 on reefer fuel and some I spend more.

Are you for real?? No joking?? Because most reefers hold 50 gallons and diesel is running $2.40 to $3.00 along i40. 50 bucks seems kinda low! But then again don't know reefer costs to keep her filled. Don't want to go out and spend 25-50k on a reliable reefer and end up with no extra. That's my concern.

A brand new reefer is more fuel efficient than an older unit. I'd be less concerned about running a lot of miles and more focused on maximising revenue. If you're booking solid gross revenues $5,000-$6,000 a week or better the reefer fuel you burn is going to be insignificant even if you're running frozen loads during the summer.

I'm not up to date on used reefer prices.

A reefer trailer is more of a risk from loading and unloading but the most common is the chute wearing out in the nose. Not a big deal to fix. If you are buying a used reefer and it's a Carrier X2 vs a Thermoking SB I say Carrier hands down is better. If you're looking at an X4 vs a TK Precedent I would say they're almost neck and neck. If you get a GD Super Seal reefer, those are pretty nice trailers. Reefer fuel isn't so bad unless you got a -10 load in TX and it's 105 degrees. Doesn't matter what you have, it's going to suck fuel.Dave_in_AZ and 386lover Thank this. -

New stickers on the trailer. Truck is still getting stuff out on inside. Once it's outside in the sun I'll get some pictures of it.

As a long time reader my first post on TTR is gonna be, "The suspense is killing me!" Congrats on the new truck!

I think @Cowpie1 will appreciate this. Truck has a 10spd direct 2.5 ratio, new A26 motor, and is a 6X2.
Dave_in_AZ, TallJoe, SL3406 and 3 others Thank this.
