I’ve been working a local job for awhile now. I had my interview with Averitt running the Royal Cup dedicated in Birmingham AL. Does anyone have info on this terminal or account? I’m very interested in doing it, but just need so insider info. Thanks for any info you may be able to share.

The SC (Service Center) is pretty good size and has a decent shop. Everytime I have had issues it's always been fixed (relatively) quickly depending on the problem. I used to run LTL loads out from there quite often to get me home before I moved, so the gate guards got used to seeing my ugly mug.

Royal Cup is a new SCS account. There are some pro's to it. Free coffee!! And their break room is cool, has free fountain drinks and snack bar so you can load up before your trip. People there are friendly and easy to work with.
The account is still under competition though for phase in. Meaning, as Royal Cup drivers retire/leave, their spot will be bidded on by Royal Cup drivers and what is left will be given to Averitt. It is not a dedicated site yet, so your manager does not work on-site so you are pretty much the solo Averitt face to face contact.
So naturally, starting out, all the lanes are pretty rough. This has it's pro's though. It only gets better each lane added and it allows you to do more than just one lane as you grow with the company. Sets you up for trainer and possibly leadership if you excel. So there are some incentives to be interested, even though the lanes for the time being will be rough.
It is touch freight (uses mechanical equipment). Each lane will typically be over 2000 miles for about 4 days of work. You'll have around 7 stops.JBbeast11, bamamac and chopper103in Thank this.
