Im thinking about ordering a new w 900 L with a 605 cummins with a 18 spd van operstion running southesst to cslifornia give me some thoughts

A van operation? Then why do you want an 18 speed? With legal weight loads any 18 is simply over kill.

Get yourself a high rear ratio ... spec whatever tire size you want, with whatever your preferred cruise speed is and make sure that is between 1400 and 1450 rpm. At least for the last generation of cummins. The new x series stuff may even like lower RPM.
If you're getting lo pro 24.5's a 3.08 is a good choice. If you travel slower than 70 maybe 3.25 -
