I honestly don't know why TMC couldn't get you home on the weekends in NYC...Lord knows they move enough through NY. I know when I ran the northeast ai stayed running through or in close proximity to NYC. (Plus, they have, or had, at least one dedicated operation up in Buchanan, about maybe 20 or so miles up north of Nyack, which itself isn't all that far north of NY. That said...TMC does do a lot of distribution center work up there (three Home Depot DCs that I know of, one in Westfield MA, one in Norwood MA and a third in Bloomfield CT, right outside Hartford), and provided they still run in there, they seemed to have good inroads with Nucor Steel up in Auburn NY (i wanna say about 30 or so miles from Syracuse), and I had at least one load out of there that delivered to Boston. Then of course there's the Owens Corning shingle plant in Jersey just across the river (the name of the actual town eludes me but its right off US 9 just before the bridge), so there's definitely stuff moving through there.

Definitely apply and check it out.

 

My biggest concern would be where you would be parking the truck on your home time. Other than that I agree with Buc on everything he said. Kerny, NJ is where Owens Corning is located.

Yes, your biggest issue is where to park a LOADED flatbed truck of building materials. High freight theft area. We haul into NYC all the time and get the hell out as there is no freight coming out of the city. Owens Corning in Kearny and Hunter panels in Montgomery are pretty close to NYC. Buchanan is too far away and forever to get there.
