image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Happened today, truck has 89000 miles,i put it in 1st gear to pull of from the dock and it would accelerate itself, turn the ignition off but the truck stays on another 30-45 sec then shuts down.
I disconnected the big connector next to power steering res. on drivers side and i get only Acm fault.
At first there was trailer abs light on and Ecm error.Truck runs normally.
One thing when def tank is emtpy i have to refill it very slow because the pump cuts off right away like when you have a bad n80 evap purge valve on the car.

    Anybody had similar situation?

I get the ecm maintenance required message from time to time after my truck has been sitting for a handful of days.... went to shop and looked for codes and always turned up with nothing. I just assume it's a ghost code as it's never derated and usually clears itself after a few hours. Same with the acm fault, clears itself up and doesn't shut down when it says it's going to or anything.

Sorry, I know that's not much help..... I would guess though that this is a wiring harness issue.

The trailer abs isn't a problem so much if you are hooked to a trailer. It's just saying there is an issue in that trailer, maybe a dirty wheel speed sensor. The ecm error may be from the ecm power wire losing connection and will clear itself back up if that is what you disconnected.

The DEF tank cutting off is probably the DEF pump you are at. Certain Love's pumps I had to be very deliberate and pump slow or it would cut off. If you were to take a box of def and pour it in, it would accept it just fine. At this point I would clean and reconnect all connections at the battery. I also wouldn't let the DEF tank go past 1/4 tank from here on out or your truck might de-rate. The tank being low may be triggering the ACM fault, which is def related.

Just came from Miami where it was 90F to WI where it was 35F now heading to Atlanta.I saw a corosion on one battery terminal, ill clean it and see what happens, ill try unpluging the big connector on def tank to see if there is any dirt inside.
    Thanks for your replies!

Might want to have your batteries tested too. I had the same issue.

Turned out to be bad battery?

Last few weeks i would leave marker lights on while engine off when sleeping but i thought thats ok since it has auto shut down to preserve power.Always started in the morning no problem at all.

I had a cpl that weren't holding full charge on test. Replaced all 4 mos ago and haven't had the problem since. That's my story anyways.

You will find that Volvos are very sensitive to battery and grounding. Make sure ever so often you clean and tighten the grounds on the batteries, make sure the ground to the frame stays tight, I would check them at least once a month, and I would replace all batteries at the same time.

The ecm can start going haywire if the voltage is fluctuating.

Many communications error messages are battery related. Corrosion causes lots of problems especially in winter time. disconnect all the batteries, test them. You might need to replace some or all the batteries. New or old batteries can just fail and you need just one to drag the others down. Clean all the terminals and check all your grounds etc. Then coat and grease them with anti corrosion paint grease etc. I do this twice a year. Your truck is new so you shouldn't many issues but crap happens.

Also you are letting your def go too low. I always keep it above half a tank. Helps keep the tank cleaner and extend the pump and filter life. This stuff loves to crystallize and that can cause problems.

    Scooter Jones Thanks this.
