Can I buy and activate an aobrd?

Cant put it back- Not an option, I removed it 10 years ago after an ECM outbreak, Ive strippede my truck of unnecessary wire looms and the datalink and harness are Gone forever.

IF They want me on an E-log- Give me another Option to use the Frickin thing.....on my phone or they can take their electronics and shove it where he sun don't shine.

I Put a Reman engine in 2004- I Gotta check on the serial number what year the motor is.

 

If it's 99 or earlier you're fine, but newer and you're ####ed.

Why is there NOT a E-log that just works from the smartphone- I Don't Get it.

If They diont want actual "log Books" anymore Whatever- Why does it have to plug into MY truck? Makes no sense

 

The whole point is to limit our ability to lie about our hours. The best way they've found is to directly read the truck's activity and store it in a controllable manner. A phone is easily manipulated.

There are phone apps for it, like big road and keep truckin, but I don't know if they'll be compliant after the 19th or if they'll require a plug in module immediately. Read up on them to be sure.

 

Yes you can, not many manufacturers are supporting them at the moment but a few still are. I question why you would though, it is an expensive bridge to get you an extra two years of flexibility but I'm sure you know what your costs are.
Spierion still sells an AOBRD, I personally sell Pedigree but we have fully transitioned to ELDs as of 11/1 so I can't be of much help.
VDO isn't supporting the AOBRD version of RoadLog anymore, heck they barely supported it when it was the only version, but why can't you still use the new one you have? If I understand their product it works fully independent of a data connection and such, so unless there is a failure in the hardware or a required web based backend I don't know about it should work.

 

I just purchased 2 units from Big Road. I was told it's an aobrd until Dec 2019 when I'll have to purchase a software upgrade to be eld. Who the heck knows if this crap will get delayed or what? I'm very excited to experience the safety that comes with it. No more stress from adding up numbers and figuring out where I am. Thank god our government cares so much about us truckers. Oops, I just threw up a little in my mouth!
