I use gear oil on my hand ratchets and ratchet binders. Winches and winch slider track get absolutely nothing. I would think anything on the track would just attract road grime.

When lubes mix with road grime or dust, it turns to glue pretty much. WD40 is great for breaking free a seized winch, but I wouldn't recommend using it to lube the track. The winches should slide problem free without any lubrication. Keep the track clean and dry and it shouldn't be an issue most of the year (winter makes things horrible regardless of what you do).
I use snap binders, so don't lube anything normally outside of roll-tite bearings.HalpinUout Thanks this. -
I use white lithium grease. A little messy for the first day, but it seems to last well

Dish soap... dries to a nice waxy film and doesn’t attract dirt. I use it to lube the slider track on my trailers.
Lepton1, cke, HalpinUout and 2 others Thank this. -
Just a few drops of chainsaw bar oil.
cke and HalpinUout Thank this.
