(For those who don't know, 'decked' is when you put a skid on a plate held up by three or four beams. 'Railed' is when you put up two beams and place a 4-way pallet on them, locking it in with the side grooves that a forklift normally uses.)
I wish I'd gotten a picture of a heavy duty aluminum decking beam bent into a perfect arc...!!MACK E-6 and road_runner Thank this. -
I love Lysol wipes. Especially when driving a truck normally assigned to a person nicknamed Peefingers. Wash those hands before leaving the restroom...
MACK E-6, misterG, road_runner and 2 others Thank this. -
Twisted TruckersmisterG Thanks this. -
Radman Thanks this.

I asked my brother if he did it, he said nope. Asked him if the driver will be fired, he doesn’t know the answer.
Heck of a 1st day -
Driving isn't want used to be. Economy is booming and less and less people are putting up with the hours, pay, and government micromanagement. We've had two open positions now for five years. Those have been filled around 22 times since I started. It's sad that a barn with five people can cycle through so many drivers.hotrod1653, MACK E-6, LoneCowboy and 3 others Thank this. -
Exactly, RR. We have the same problem here, finding AND retaining good people. The average tenure of our drivers is 5 years and up. With a couple guys with less then that, but not by much.
We have gone through about 12 people in the last 5 years. Of which two of them have come and gone at least twice now with a third coming back for his second time next week.
Part of it is the pay. Part of it is different work options in not too far flung places from here, depending on where the driver lives in relation to our terminal.
And a LARGE part of it is the lack-a-wanna that TOO many people have to do ANY KIND of work. And with some OTR drivers, they come in, realize we finger print a large portion of our freight and leave after a couple days or weeks.road_runner Thanks this. -
Yep. Most drivers are afraid of work. That's why I don't recommend LTL city work for just anyone who wants a local job.
My go-to joke is that "I got my CDL so I wouldn't have to work for a living." To some people that's not a joke; it's their actual plan. -
Gearjammin' Penguin and misterG Thank this.
