I have always used the full-grain leather gloves from Costco in the past, but have gotten tired of them being soaking wet and clumsy. This year I'm gonna try a "layered" approach: disposable latex mechanics' gloves underneath a pair of U-Line cotton gloves with the coated palms and fingers. Hopefully much more dexterous, and maybe not as cold since my hands won't actually get wet.

QuietStorm and InTooDeep Thank this. -
I consider bungee or spider bungees as "insurance" to buy a little time if something comes undone. If the chains are too loose with metal on metal means, a little bit of elastic pull isn't going to counter he effects of 25+ mph rpm's centrifugal force acting on it, especially as speed increases.
But granted, in theory, if the chains are properly installed and hold up, bungees aren't necessary
However if something comes undone, the help of a good bungee application might prevent excess damage if and until you can get slowed/stopped. And the spider bungees, though expensive, do seem to work great and don't get all tied together like regular bungees and last longer. I just lay mine flat on a cheap cloth rug in front of the passenger seat.
That's my opinion anyway and it may not be a correct opinion.Last edited: Nov 25, 2017

We upgraded to the cam lock chains. Never had issue with any coming loose. Now if you are going to spend the whole week on winter road and are ambitious deflate tires to 40lbs then hang jewellery and air up tires. Tighter than a ,,, well you know

I picked up the spider bungees from the Kenworth dealer at the bottom of Cabbage hill on the 84. $15 a pack with 2 spiders in each pack. 30 yards walk from the truck stop where they're selling them for $30 for 1!!!
