So... I am a 54 year old twice divorced man that has less than $500 in the bank and no future. Trucking seems to interest me. There are about ten companies out there that provide free CDL-A training. Of those ten US Express, CRST, CR England, PAM and Roehl have all said yes to me starting at their schools. Because of my bad driving history and 5 years of unverifiable employment nobody else would touch me. As for what part of this beautiful country would I want to work in? AZ, TX, KY, TN, NC, SC, FL or GA would be great. Based on this, Which company should I go with? Which company treats its drivers the best? Which company am I going to get taught correctly? And of course, Which company am I going to make the most money? Thank you in advance for all your help.

I’d think CRST and England would be the worst 2 of that bunch from what I’ve heard. Guy I work with did a year with England and it’s amazing how piss-poor it must have been and this guy is the one driver we have that never tells wild stories other than me lol. Good luck.

Go with Roehl "National Van Fleet." You go on the payroll from day one in cdl school.

Which state do you live in?

"How much they pay?" From what I have heard, the highest pay doesn't mean most pay.

Bad driving record ? Beware, if they hire you and train you, if you get involved in the slightest incident with the driving record according to what you saying is not good, they will let you go and you will be stuck with the bill for putting you through school.

The bad record I'm referring to is that my license was suspended 3 times over the last 3 years for non payment of child support. Other than that I have no moving violations in the last 10 years, never a DUI and never arrested for anything.

I'm in NJ but I want out and would consider AZ, TX, KY, TN, NC, SC, FL or GA. Maybe be a NOMAD the first year until I find the right fit.

Roehl "National Van Fleet" would probably be a good choice for seeing the nation. They do hair follicle drug test, plus urine drug test.
Did you try Contract Freighters www.cfidrive.com which is another good dry van coast to coast company. They send you to school in Joplin,Missouri.
