Well, that's what I did. Born & raised in Tennessee, but now live in Nevada. No personal income taxes in either TN or NV.

Didn't exactly love it; just had enough of it.

I picked those states because they seem to have the most trucking jobs and warmest weather. At least better weather than NY and NJ.

Don't be afraid to ask a prospective employer what they pay per mile and how many miles their company drivers average.
Don't sign a lease, get your 1 year in and look for a better company.
    Good Luck in your search!

That's why I chose Southern Nevada; good year round weather and plenty of trucking jobs.
61degrees right now in Las Vegas.

So Prime, Maverick, or Schneider would not train you? Some carriers allow dogs. Do not lease a truck with a big company. They will short you miles to keep the company drivers moving every chance they can. Than you will not be able to pay your lease, or have a negative pay check.

TX doesn’t have income tax. But we don’t have gambling either so we have high property taxes. This state also has a fetish for toll roads. ####ing annoying. Almost $100 a month in tolls sometimes driving to work sites.

We got some good barbecue here though.

One time I forgot to pay a toll bill and it went to collections. I owed $150 in tolls, plus $3000 “administration fee.” Are you freakin kidding me!? Are the toll roads owned by the mafia?
