Insurance rate would be a good reason, wouldn't want them crosschecking.

But I'll bet on of all the things that gal at the front desk has to do today, like her nails for instance, constantly updating somebody's DAC is pretty far down the list. Plenty of time to do it when she has to do all the other things that she has to do when somebody quits.

No, I don't know that. You don't know that either. There's a ton of trucking companies, big and small, and I'm sure some of each use DAC, and some don't. Only one who knows for sure is HireRight.

But, I do know that I wouldn't want to work at any company that can't be bothered to do the due diligence on checking the backgrounds of their drivers, as they probably won't be in business long when that first multi-million lawsuit comes due, which means my paycheck would be at risk. ymmv.

Scooter, you in paw paw, mi? Thats my stomping ground.

Just made it to VA from IN. Clocked in 570-580 today. This area is gorgeous. Rolling hills was intimidating at first, got easier as they came.

Except there was a class action lawsuit against HireRight not long ago because of inaccurate data being placed on drivers records. I forget what the root cause was, but I think it stemmed from not verifying info that was being reported with the reporting party, and the accuracy of their data entry. Bottom line, their info is entered by humans, and one missed keystroke can put a bad mark on the wrong drivers record, then it is hell trying to get them to fix it. A straight forward background and work history check should be enough, along with a DMV and CSA/PSP check...a simple "when was the driver working there" and a list of any accidents they were involved in should be all you need.

    Yep, here's the settlement.

Employment Background Screening Company to Pay $2.6 Million Penalty for Multiple Violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act

Was for listing criminal offenses that were later expunged and not updating their data base in a timely matter. Hey, it's the background check system we got, and if you really want to screw up a data base, multiple people with computers are the way to do it.

Once you've gone and rescued enough abandoned trucks as I have and seen the damage done to brand new equipment, you'd might have a different perspective on the matter. I've kicked the dog bones out the door from the previous occupant, cleaned dog crap off the floors, and seen mattresses that looked like somebody shaved their nads in. Some of those trucks the company literally had to throw away after we got them back, as they stunk so bad drivers refused to get in them, even after being detailed.

Then there's all the wrecked equipment laying about the yard. Trailers run into low bridges, tractors with smashed fairings, bumpers torn off, etc. Just hooked a reefer the other day that somebody high-hooked then tried to cover it up by duct taping it back together, those plastic shrouds are $1,000 a panel to replace btw.

And for real fun, go sit in claims and listen to what they're working on. Last good one I remember was the guy who forgot to set his brakes and wiped out five cars and destroyed the tractor. They were up to 1/2 million in losses and still counting. Or the guy who knocked over a power pole and knocked out power to the whole town. Bet that wasn't cheap

Hell, I sometimes wonder why we're even a training company at all given all the damage I see. If I ran the place I'd want a lien on your house and your first born son before I put you in a 1/4 million dollars worth of equipment with a potential liability of north of God knows what if you hit something.

So in my book, the more knuckleheads that get weeded out, the better. Might stand a chance at getting a raise.

Well that’s why you don’t work for a training company.

You didn't drop it (1153046) in Appleton,WI by any chance did you? If not, there were two of those in circulation because that's what I came across the other day, duct tape repair and all. The last trailer condition note had been made in October and it wasn't on there. I ended up doing a live unload at FF so I could drop it in Fargo for the trailer shop.

I'm personally fine with Magnum reporting more serious incidents. Its the reporting of minor incidents, some that literally cost Magnum nothing, which bothers me.
