I'm a newbie that is just starting driving school here in Florida and am looking to reach out to flatbed companies about regional opportunities in the SE. Just got off phone with recruiter from major flatbed player (Maverick) who said because I have a Florida DL/CDL his company cannot hire me??? He said go get a Ga CDL and no problem I would be golden (I own a home in Ga too). I asked if they have runs down here, pick up and drop and he said yes, but they are dispatched out of a state other then Florida. Is this a nice way to blow off an inexperienced newbie or what? Sounds crazy from where I'm sitting
Is this possible??

Plenty companies won't touch a driver with a Florida license. Of the 20 I applied to, only 4 offered me a job.
That recruiter was correct, get a GA license and employment opportunities increase 10 fold.tman78 and lovetwodrive Thank this. -
Cypress Truck Lines and Rinaudo Enterprises are both flatbed and both headquartered in Florida and both hire new cdl grads. Also, CT Transportation which is part of Comcar in Florida.
OK, there's 3 flatbed in Florida.
For OTR, Melton Truck Lines and Paul Transportation hire in Florida & both flatbed.

The recruiter is trying to skirt there own company policy as they don't hire out of FL. That being said I would be warry of them being able to get you home on time. (Even more so than most companies)
